Dr McNulty cared for my brother who had aggressive stage IV lung cancer. Dr McNulty did an amazing job of choosing the right treatment that prolonged his life and gave him a quality of life until the end. I am forever grateful to Dr McNulty and his professional staff. I have never been treated by a more compassionate Dr. in my 30 + years of dealing with two serious health issues and many Dr's. I credit Dr. McNulty for caring for me and directing me to advanced care available to deal with my rare and little known health issues. I was in his care for years on a monthly basis. I loved him..the office staff and the nurses and would never give him and his staff less than a 5 star rating. (unless there was a 10 star). In 2016, I was admitted to Cape Fear Cancer Specialists (CFCS)/New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) to be treated by Dr. William McNulty, MD. At the beginning of my three month treatment, I was told by insurance/billing representatives at CFCS that I would be billed as "in-network" under an agreement with BCBSNC for Blue Value patients. During my treatment McNulty made rude comments concerning my employment status and other matters and made a prognosis on my serious medical condition without my most recent medical records on hand. He did not appear to be up to current standards in regard to my treatment. CFCS/NHRMC charged me for McNulty's treatment as "out-of-network" instead of "in-network" for my treatment instead of the "in-network" status that was agreed upon at the beginning. I now owe $4200 for the sub-standard treatment that was at time anxiety-provoking and humiliating for me due to McNulty's behavior and medical decisions. If possible, I would recommend avoiding this practice due to deceitful billing practices and sub-standard treatment procedures.
