If I could do zero stars, I would have. Am cancelling a procedure that was scheduled with them. Years ago, I loved this practice. Opper is top notch. DeNicola should be fired. Here is why. Three years ago I began having severe gut pain. DeNicola told me to increase fiber and cut down on diary. After MUCH self experimentation I found an eating strategy that worked for me and reduced pain. Nearly two years ago I began experiencing clear seepage. I went in and DeNicola told me to up the fiber again. Did some studies and all results negative. For the past year clear seepage has increased to the point of ridiculious. Went in again, and told the nurse if DeNicola told me to "take more fiber" I'd lose my mind. DeNicola came in, I told her the problem I'd had over a year has increased, and it was like she didn't even hear me. When (due to frustration) my voice increased as I tried to explain how negatively this is impacting my life, she INTERRUPTED and told me "you don't have to yell at me". I told her, I wasn't yelling, if I was she'd know. She gave NO SOLUTION, no hint of what is wrong, ordered a bunch of tests (again) and sent me on my way. She also gave no direction on where to take the stool study. When I called the office to find out where to take it, hey asked my name and AUDIBLY LAUGHED when they heard my name. If you want to be ignored, and disregarded and disrespected as a patient, this is the place for you. If you want compassionate quality care, move on. Too bad as Opper is top notch, but the rest ruin his practice.
After 4 ER visits in 1 week for the same issue I was finally referred here. I suppose you could say my hopes were up that someone would be willing to travel the road to a diagnosis with me but that was not the case. All I found at this practice was a doctor with an apathetic, judgmental attitude who would rather discuss an unrelated ER record from 6 months ago instead of the 4 consecutive ones I was there to discuss. She never did a physical exam but claimed she did, told me to try a bland diet (I am so nauseated and painful I can't eat), and after my insistence that I was not any better and something had to change, begrudgingly set me up with further diagnostics.....in a month and a half. I left feeling defeated and at the mercy of a broken system... Until I remembered they aren't the only GI docs in town and went to Wilmington Gastroenterology- where I was treated like a person with an issue that needed to be addressed. A physical exam was performed, in addition to a few more simple table side tests and a procedure scheduled for 5 days out. I would not be giving them any stars but I have to in order to post this.
I would never recommend anyone here! Wilmington gi staff are thus by far an amazing team of staff! They really care
Staff was very judgmental and rude. Not only did I leave in pure embarrassment but certain staff was very adequate at making me feel like I was not welcome! Do not recommend anyone under age of 40 going here!
The nurses are AMAZING and truly care about their patients. Dr. Gramley is very thorough and gives great care.
